Heirloom Kitchen ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your personal data is collected, used, and protected when you use our meal planning application.

We operate in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act (Chapter 586 of the Laws of Malta). For the purposes of data protection laws, Heirloom Kitchen is the Data Controller.

1. Data We Collect

  • Account Information: Your email address and password when you register.
  • App Data: Recipes you create, ingredients, shopping lists, and weekly meal plans.
  • Technical Data: Device type, IP address, and basic usage logs for security and debugging purposes.

2. How We Use Your Data

We process your data based on your execution of our Terms of Service (Contractual Necessity) and our legitimate interests to provide a reliable service:

  • To create and manage your Heirloom Kitchen account.
  • To save and synchronize your meal recipes and schedules across devices.
  • To improve the functionality and secure the infrastructure of the application.

3. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell your personal data. We may share necessary technical information with trusted third-party service providers (such as cloud hosting providers) solely for the purpose of operating the app. All providers are strictly bound by GDPR-compliant data processing agreements.

4. Data Retention

Your personal data is retained only for as long as your account remains active. If you choose to delete your account, your personal data and uploaded recipes will be securely erased from our active systems within 30 days.

5. Your GDPR Rights

Under the EU GDPR and Malta's Data Protection Act, you have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification: Correct any inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure:Request the deletion of your personal data ("Right to be Forgotten").
  • Restriction/Objection: Limit or object to certain types of processing.
  • Data Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.

6. Complaints
